Sound strategy is the cornerstone of success and a prerequisite for high performance. Creating a successful strategy in Islamic finance requires experienced consultants and executives who are simultaneously knowledgeable of the Sharia and capable of deciding what actions the organisation must take to achieve its goals. These professionals must have the delivery capability to ensure that their strategies achieve the desired results.

The Sharia advisory process of BMB Islamic generally consists of four phases or segments, depending on the nature of the product.  Firstly, a Project Commencement Document is produced, clearly demarcating project governance and scope with exact timelines for delivery.

Next, BMB Islamic executes phase two in which a number of tasks are carried out. These include: compiling detailed Sharia Examination Reports (SERs) proposing innovative structures for the product, performing Sharia review of legal documentation as well as carrying out  Sharia review of the SERs.

Thirdly, the Final SER is produced, upon the approval of which the BMB Islamic issues a Fatwa. The project then stands completed and the product delivered.

Finally, once the product has been delivered, BMB Islamic offers monitoring services as part of its Sharia auditory process, which can either be either quarterly or biannual based on the client’s preference.
